Jewish Yugoslav  barrack 37 in Oflag VI C

“The Jewish prisoners were housed separately in the camp. One of the barracks served as a house of prayer. The prisoners were allowed to practice their religion according to the Geneva Conventions. ... With the toleration of the commandant's office, religious services were celebrated and, as far as possible, Jewish holidays were celebrated. The dead could be buried with an escort of at least 10 Jewish men, the "Chewra Kadishah", in the Jewish cemetery on Magdalenenstrasse."

In the rest of Germany, trains with Jews roll eastbound to the concentration camps, and the Jewish officers at OFLAG VI C on the outskirts of Osnabrück can celebrate Shabbat and the Jewish holidays . there's even a prayer barrack.

Dear Eda!

Although I have not yet received an answer from you about the postcard of June 25, I am giving you a sign of life again, so that you do not forget me. I am healthy, but very worried, because mother and Yehudith are no longer in Kudovo. Find out where they are and write me their address so I can contact them. Write to me, my beloved girl, here and there as usual, and add a picture of yourself. Are you going to the fifth grade now? what do you do in your free time? Be good, obedient and patient, and pray diligently for us all. May God bless you and protect you and give you only good. kisses from dad. Dear Friends! In case my dear Eda is not there, please answer me about this postcard, as I do not know where my wife and my daughter are and I am very worried about it. Many thanks and warm greetings. Groff
