Trieste

The fashcist Italians were accomplices of the Nazis in World War II, but were quite passive accomplices and were not complicit in the murders carried out by the Nazis. Italy served as an escape route for Jewish refugees from Yugoslavia. The family, who lived in a relatively safe place, could not predict what would happen next.

Aunt Luzzi

Trieste, Italy First postcard 05.10.1942

Three postcards, written in German, addressed to Mr. Liga Heinrich. Podravska Slatina, Croatia

Luzzi and her family lived in Trieste, a port city in northeastern Italy, on the Slovenian border.

Thanks for your postcard and I am glad to hear all is well with Eda. I'm sorry that Eda can't come over here for a "climate change". I received the approval for Eda and in the coming days I will send her a package. I hope the package reaches its destination. Unfortunately, I do not receive information from Lola and Yehudith and I do not know where and what is happening with my family.

God will protect us. I thank you again. Dear eda I'm glad to hear you're healthy. Do you know where Edu and Leah are? Be a good girl like you were until now.

I am sending you a package. Kissing. May God protect you. Luzzi
